Add More Border Security, Now

The need for more border security just increased dramatically with the drone strike that killed the Iranian Major General Qassim Soleimani on January 3rd.  Since 1998 Soleimani was the commander of Iran’s Quds Force, a division primarily responsible for extraterritorial military and clandestine operations.

One of the Quds’ clandestine operations was the 2011 recruitment of people to execute a restaurant bombing in our nation’s capital to kill a Saudi diplomat.

Breitbart reports, “In May 2011, discussions began secretly in Mexico between a known Los Zetas associate and Quds Force operative Manssor Arbabsiar. The discussion would lead to planning a C-4 detonation at a Washington, D.C. restaurant frequented by Saudi Ambassador Adel al-Jubeir. The Quds Force operative did not know that he was being recorded in a DEA operation…Over the course of a few months, several clandestine meetings in Mexico planned strikes against the Israeli Embassy in Washington, and the Saudi and Israeli Embassies in Argentina.“

In October 2011 the conspirators were arrested, the bombings/murders were prevented, and thank you DEA and FBI.

Many of us have warned for years that the porous southern border could be an entry point for more than just illegal aliens or drug traffickers.  For terrorists to think they could also sneak into America that way is a no-brainer.

It is quite probable that we have “sleeper cells” in America, right now, waiting for some specific time or event to murder Americans,  possibly from more than one adversary in the world.  But, following the hit on Soleimani, we must be even more vigilant at our borders and ports of entry.

One area where illegal alien terrorists might think to hole up is so-called “sanctuary cities” where local, even some state governments, don’t concern themselves with illegal immigration status.  Illegal alien terrorists can hide in plain sight, get driver licenses, work, and blend in so as to be virtually invisible.

Internal enforcement needs to be increased and if local jurisdictions refuse to help, the federal government needs to cut off federal funding and prosecute any and all government officials who violate the law to protect illegal aliens from federal immigration law enforcement.

So, we can have this discussion after a “sleeper cell” terrorist kills a bunch of Americans, or we can try to eliminate that possibility, and the inevitable after the fact bureaucratic finger pointing, by increasing our law enforcement efforts…now.

You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life. — Winston Churchill
